ROBERT G. SMITH

Bob is a Chicago based scenic and lighting designer whose work has
appeared around the world including Chicago, New York (Off
Broadway), Los Angeles, Dublin, Galway, Edinburgh, London (West
End), Jerusalem, Singapore and across the nation on the A&E Cable
Network. In Chicago he is an ensemble member of Famous Door Theatre,
Stage Left Theatre and the vice president of the board of directors
of A Red Orchid Theatre and was a founding member of Plasticene. His
set and lighting designs have also appeared at Steppenwolf,
Northlight, The Next, The Organic, The Apollo, Pegasus, Apple Tree,
Victory Gardens, Mary-Arrchie, New Crime, Live Bait, Powertap, Irish
Repertory, Light Opera Works, Remy-Bumppo, greasy joan, The Second
City, Terrapin, Porchlight Music Theatre and dozens of other Chicago
theaters. He designed the original and several subsequent
productions of Killer Joe as well as the Chicago production
of Tracy Letts’ Bug. Bob has been nominated nine times and
received seven Joseph Jefferson Citations, three After Dark Awards
and an Emmy nomination.
